Well before I take a shot at Arcxel which by the way has been mentioned on the thread and in particular in reference to Hucom and I don't remember what happened to the discussion of Class 1, with regard to Hucom. But first an Ancor shot at Brocade. >>>The gigabit-speed MKII is designed for optimal Class 3-2-1 and Intermix performance. All communication support resides in the ASIC for optimal performance in connectionless service - up to twice as fast as Brocade Communications' switch depending on file size. The switch offers the lowest latency and highest Class 3 performance in the industry. The MKII costs less to own, implement and support than other high-performance technologies, including competing Fibre Channel products. Fully loaded, the list price is $2,495 per-port - nearly 20 percent below Brocade and 40 percent less than Gigabit Ethernet products. With copper media modules, the price is $2,295 per port. The switch is available without optics for $1,995 per port.<<<< Cost of ownership should also be considered. The MKII is based on a proven, ANSI standard technology, making it easier to configure, install and manage. MKII loop ports provide an economical, shared-bandwidth solution for server and small-scale installations.<<<< Notice the difference in price guys between Ancor and Arcxel.I guess Hucom going into FC in a big way and will no longer carry just one product or vendor. Arxcel Release is very very thin on specs also except that it contains 1/2 the ports of the MK II and no latency numbers. One thing for sure is that Arcxel switches are more expensive then either Brocade or Ancors by a goodly sum. >>>>The AGS/8 is available immediately and is list priced at $2,950 per port for an eight-port copper unit. Quantity discounts are available.<<<<< And yes Ancor will have competition and yes Arcxel will be one of the competitors. This is not a bad thing in the long run and ANCR still looks like the switch leader to me.
