In fact, he admitted that he relied on other people to read for him. Incurious, to say the least - or just disinterested? Note that encasing yourself in a cocoon is not the same as being dumb, although they often go hand in hand. Any leader who does not read to at least get an idea of the pulse of the nation is going to promote policies that seem out-of-touch - like Bush. You cannot have a good understanding of constitutional law without a background in important SC rulings. Period. Defending the Constitution is difficult when you don't have an understanding of the history behind the various rulings. I can see why Bush has such a hard time defending the Constitution, and how he comes to his positions that are anti-Constitutional - torture, suspension of habeus corpus, spying, and the Patriot act. His lack of understanding that his PRIMARY duty is not keeping us safe, but keeping freedom safe shows his complete lack of insight into the Constitution and the intent of the founding fathers. I would hardly call Biden a 'serial plagarist' for one incident of improper citation in school - where he had to retake the class - and one incident where he used a part of someone else's speech, even though in all other incidents he had cited the original source. You guys are really reaching on that one. More exaggerations by the Republicans to avoid talking about Palin's lack of qualifications - something acknowledged by a growing group of conservative columnists. Character does matter - which is why a McCain presidency is so distasteful to many voters. His clueless mishandling of this current crisis - flipflop on the 'strong fundamentals', flipflop on AIG, flipflop on suspending his campaign to 'save' the bailout, inability to influence or lead his party on the pending bill, abandonment of his 'suspension', crap about Obama 'phoning it in' when he did the same thing, partisan attacks blaming Obama for the crisis one minute, then calling for a moratorium on partisan attacks the next - all these miscues, slipups, and blunders show that McCain is definitely does not have the character to lead this nation.
