i submit again my RIPTIDE view:
i still believe a critical factor to deflation is the consumer(as they are near 70% of GDP). In that light, the inflationary level of Crude is DEFLATIONARY for U.S. public.
OPEC as stated they intend to try to have supply at levels to maintain 100crude price average.
Merrill has come out with Crude to 50 call--i think that call is ridiculous.

i am Peak Oil Theory convinced.

i feel even in a deep recession Crude could drop only to say 80, and that ONLY temporarily.

If JQP goes to frugality no amount of pumping up money supply is going to get them to go spendthrift again for a longtime.
The worst possible scenario aside from Weimar Republic type GALLOPING Inflation would be that of Deflation and Inflation running against each other as that would be a brutal RIPTIDE phenomenon.

i argued at the beginning of this year ago that as people howled at each other regards over One or the other, deflation versus rampant inflation ,none were addressing the idea of deflation/inflation currents forming a cruel riptide.

Earlier this year(1/30/2008)

i made this SIMPLE POST

All bubbles climax with ultra low yields. Why should a bond bubble be different? The crash of the biggest bubble in the history of the world will not be fun.
