I am thinking of the present public/private situation. The future I predict is happening right before all of our eyes, but we can't see the forest for the trees. People everywhere that have the means are moving to close themselves off from the rest of the public. That's why gated communities are so sought after. That is why my and every other condo in Waikiki is well locked. Everywhere you look you can see the rise of private over public if you want to see it. All collectivism is based on the concept that it is moral to steal from some to take care of others. Call it Socialism, Fascism, etc, makes no difference. It does no good to run for the hills. If you are out by yourself in the boonies, you just make an easier target. The triumph of the concept of altruism means that the Right doesn't have the guts to stand up to the left. No Politician was willing to say, "if a man can't afford the downpayment on a house, he shouldn't be buying one. He should be hard at work improving his miserable financial condition!"
