Not sure I can swallow that unintended consequences part, upthestairs.

Ben was taken to school, by his own request, August 2007, by the brainy boys & girls on Wall Street, in a weekend cram Derivatives course when this was all coming apart. I can't imagine for a moment the topic of CDS was left off the weekend agenda!

It is my thoughtful position, Lehman was selected as not only the "test case" for utilizing the alternative outcome, aka a bankruptcy court processing of a major counterparty failure scenario, (much like practicing w/BofA pressured into being Countrywide's savior)
but to LANCE THE BOIL, or prick the CDS balloon in particular.
