CJ, > He isn't a centrist any more.

When McCain called for reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac several years ago, was he being a "centrist" or a "right-wing nutjob"?

>>> He now votes with Bush about 90% of the time.

But you recognize, surely, that this is a bogus statistic. By the same measure, Obama votes with the Democrats 97% of the time.

The reality is the vast majority of these 90% are unimportant procedural issues. The 10% are the big differences.

Surely, you are not trying to argue that McCain isn't more of a "maverick" than Obama is? We know for a fact that Obama has never faced down his party on ONE SINGLE VOTE. Never, ever. Only after moving into the general election has he morphed, and you know damned well he is going to move back after he is elected, if he is.

McCain is a courageous politician. Obama is an absolute wimp and will subject to the same kinds of political pressure Clinton was. And that assures us of bad government as it did in the 90s.

>He isn't a centrist any more. He started to shift his position several years ago. He now votes with Bush about 90% of the time.

He wasn't really a centrist for very long... he was a right-winger except for the period that he tried to contrast himself with Bush.
