Ian, scathing stuff! ;-) Analysts can be good and bad, that is why professional fund managers select the analysts they listen to (at least the one's that still have their jobs!). Thus, my original question as to whom this information was from. Weaker analysts tend to give information from the companies directly with little questioning. The good analysts constantly question companies and the information that is given to them - especially in Japan and Asia.

By the way, I have not heard of a Mr/Ms Goodson at Smith Barney who covers Nikon. Is that right?

Now back to fundamentals......

Do you or anyone else know if the good KLAC numbers bode well for CYMI? My guess would be yes. "smaller linewidth technology challenges" at existing fabs were the main driver behind the better numbers.I don't have technical knowledge as you do but that to me sounds like .25micron & below processes are growing at an accelerated rate.

My broker just called from NY in a panic over the SB blurb. He got it from a colleague in the same house who is, or was, on the short side back during the blood-letting. I told Arias (my broker) that the thing was old, cold, and bogus at the get-go to boot. I also asked him to deliver a message to Patrick (the short)in two parts: one, that I added to my position this morning (and I in fact did) and two, well, publication of the second part here would probably violate SI's policies.

It was great to be able to refute the SB blurb based on the info posted here.

It's filet or dog food for me Thursday night.

Regards to all,

John
