#1.Among other things it occupies time between quotes trades etc.

#2. It if nothing else helps keep my lines of communication with Datek open, when I email a question I normally get immediate attention. I personally like that and in my experience everyone else may well get that same attention as I have had that experience for over a year now. This month as an example, I had three questions concerning marginability and warrant conversion, I emailed Datek and received answer with in 3 or four trading hours on each question.

3. People like Jack that look up every reference to Datek all over SI and then go post derogatory information, need a counter. As I have the time and the inclination to pull chains, I do. I tire quickly of people who are so stuck on themselves they can;t admit their own falibility and I think it's fun to make them justify their claims. Jack has become a cyberstalker chasing Datek from one end of SI to the other, if you don't believe it just do a content search for Datek at the bottom of this page, everywhere Datek is mentioned you can find Jack posting negatives.

Basically I do it because I enjoy it. Nobody has to like or read it. But were it not for me every now and then this would be one great mutual admiration society blasting Datek.

Almost half of the complaints here would never have occurred if people bothered to find out what they are doing before they run out and get in trouble, ie read the instructions and disclaimers. Compare them to the other brokers instructions and disclaimers. Many other complaints pop up claiming that Datek cheated them on a trade. When all that happened was that their order was put in a que and was acted on when it got to the top. To bitch Datek screwed me if I place a market order is ludicrous, Datek repeats over and over and over use limit orders. If you want a stock that is trading at 37 1/2 but wouldn't be P.O.'d in a fast moving market to get it at 38 1/2 place a limit at 38 1/2 at least you won't get stuck at 39 1/2. Limit orders don't have to be placed in the spread you know.

Give me a break. When the complaints are warranted and indeed many are I don't disparage them, but the two biggest complainer both have complaints only about their own stupidity.
