I wasn't almost suckered in by anything. I think that BOTH parties need to be shaken up a bit. The fact that you are voting against Obama instead of for McCain is a pretty good indication that you agree with me on this. I believe that the Republicans need a swift kick in the ass so that they start paying attention. I posted a message yesterday about republicans supporting government intervention in the economy. It bugs the crap out of me when people support whatever their particular party supports. If Obama wasn't the next thing to a socialist and if I didn't think he would jeopardize and cripple the national security, I would vote for him simply because he would mess with the system. And I think the system needs to be messed with. We need a third party president, or a female president or a black president so that the incumbents don't feel so complacent. As far as empty suits, it seems to me that you are avoiding calling McCain and Palin empty suits directly, but again, you aren't voting for them, you are voting against Obama. Frankly, i would prefer to vote for someone who more closely holds my beliefs. The democrats have never received a vote from me. The republicans have pretty much lost my support too. And Sarah Palin is the first in line to become president if something happens to McCain. I think it is a legitimate concern that she doesn't have an inkling of sense about the economy or foreign relations. And call me sexist, but I gotta wonder about a woman who has an infant (let alone a special needs infant) who is willing to spend massive amounts of time away from that child. It sickens me to see the hollywood moms who let their children be raised by nannies and I'm not going to employ a double standard for a politician who might be in the party I was supporting. Neither party really represents what most americans want anymore. If the libertarians weren't such freakin nutballs they would be the closest philosophically to most people. As long as people choose to only see two parties, that's all we will have. The people give their leaders the power that they have. And for some strange reason, we only choose to see it as a black and white decision. The fact is...both parties are corrupt and no longer serve the people. Your response has convinced me to vote third party
