Deja-Vu... or, if you prefer, Jay-Ja-Vu...

Anybody else rember a time right before Bell was forced to break up? Funny thing, one of the major issues was over Bell's desire to expand into the hardware business, mainly desktop 8088's and such. The gov't felt that their status as a legal monopoly gave they such power that they shouldn't be allowed to enter other markets without others being to enter their markets. One particular compromise was thay they were allowed to build and sell hardware that was DIRECTLY used in telecom-- this gave them the right to build and sell modems.

Fine. But sooner or later those modems started to have keyboards... and screens... and floppy drives... and sooner or later the gov't caught on, and forced the breakup.

Anyway, sure this is an over-simplification, but re-read the above story replacing "Bell" with "MSFT", and "Modem" with "Operating System", and "Telecom" with "Internet".

The gov't has a point, and I don't see it giving up as easily as all would think. I also think that MSFT was fully expecting this battle sooner or later, as it seemed to only take an hour the have the lawyers/ducks in line. On the other hand, Bill is crafty, and I can't wait to see what is next up his sleeve...

MSFT failure to top $139 will keep intact the resistance line built from the tops in the week ending July 18th and October 10th. If indeed this is the case as I expect, we could see the stock topple to $125 any day now, followed by a second drop to $120 and a final drop to $115.
I sincerely believe that it is about to get ugly for MSFT.

No court in the US will uphold that garbage...Reno and her crew obviously do not understand technology...we need someone younger and ready for the next century...this jealousy over MSFT makes me sick...they are the best company in the world and if unjustifiably opposed they will fight back as they are doing so....
