The only difference is that ATIC will also carry IBM's bulk as well as its SOI process. Seems more like insurance to me ;-).

I would expect tight integration of AMD's CPU designs and TFC's process development to continue.

That would discourage other customers from coming on board because TFC couldn't give them equal attention. AMD/TFC has no infrastructure to support new customers and new customers are essential if this new organization is going to be any different from the old money losing AMD. I watched Intel try to get into the ASIC business. It ain't pretty.
