I've been hearing about the recession for a year now and we haven't had a quarter yet with negative growth, two consecutive ones define a recession.

Well, if you believe the official numbers, you're right. Shadows stats estimates real inflation around 13%, unemployment around 14% and GDP mostly negative for the last few years.
