the far lefties were once considered centrists. I heard some righties call Sandra Day Oconnor a leftie, and she was a centrist appointed by Reagan!

Ginsberg and Breyer were nominated by Clinton.
Alito and Roberts were nominated by Dumbya.
Scalia and Kennedy were nominated by Reagan.
Souter and Clarence Thomas were nominated by Bush I (these 2 are considered the 2 losers of the court)

Then there is Stevens nominated by Ford. Stevens is about to retire and thankfully, Obama and democrats will choose the successor.

Kennedy might be up for retirement too and although he was nominated by Reagan, is considered a leftie in this extreme right climate. So he will be replaced with a leftie too.

That will leave roberts, alito, Scalia, and Clarence Thomas as far righties, with Ginsberg, Breyer, and 2 new people as lefties. At least it will be more balanced. The next people to retire after Stevens and Kennedy will probably be Ruth Ginsberg and Breyer so those need to be left. THe people Bush appointed are still pretty young. Clarence Thomas is also young and thats probably why he isn't ready for the job.
