Eric and Canadians: What do you see Canada doing with gold, whether coins or bullion, if U.S. pulls another heist?

There is currently no run on banks, but there will be for those with over $250,000 in accounts. Where are they going to put it? you guessed it. Ounces. I don't think Obama will like that. First act as prexy will be to call in all the gold out there, and fix the dollar at 1/1000 of an ounce of gold.

I've always thought that when things get bad enough (not quite yet), U.S. will revert to prior crisis form and seize it, which is why I own Canadian gold stocks. That would not work out if Canada were to follow U.S. lead in switching its monopoly of money from paper to metal. I'm expecting Canada won't seize gold, given its history of not doing so and its present key status as mining and mining finance center. Any Canadians think it will?

The whole slide was caused by zero reserve, and repealsion of the Glass Steagall.

That would have been courtesy of the Gramm Leach Bill in late 1999.

The same Phil Gramm by the way, that would probably be appointed Secy of the Treasury by one of our candidates.

I appreciate that you are such a learned source of American history. One of the aspects of really understanding history is the grasp of the nuances that bore on the acts of the players....

The incumbent party in America has much to answer for.
