Obama can not compete on the emotional hot button level. Obama is not going to win the hearts and minds of the undecided.

Oh, I disagree here.
He's not pushing wedge issues - which IMO is deliberate. Those are divisive - sure, you'll get the partisans out, but repel the rest.
But the man almost embodies the American Dream, surely: if he can work his way up, so can anyone. That's a pretty powerful emotional issue. Plus he's a fine orator and charismatic speaker, he seems to connect very well with an audience, and he has a powerfully positive style.
Or do you just mean, if he hasn't won these people over *yet*, he probably won't? I think the same could be said of McCain, who's had rather longer to do so...

I can't believe there are anybody left that have not made up their minds about the candidates based on their stated positions, judgement, and character

Mary,

Good question, makes one wonder what more they need. I don't believe they are particularly susceptible to hot button issues - I guess there are some who just can't decide.

BB

Mary, the polls show that Obama is ahead.
