"Told ya so. "It's the economy stupid". Always our biggest 'national security' threat. And we haven't heard the last from the threat of oil prices either."

If I were Osama, I'd be ordering attacks on oil facilities and tankers ASAP. THEIR funding is being severely impacted by the pricing in of this recession.

JF, I've always believed in getting us off of foreign oil for national security reasons.

Recessions come and go, but every "recession" that I can remember has always been cut short by government intervention. Looks like we're going to have to pay for over a decade of government policies which has favored short-term stimulus over long-term viability.

As for Obama, he'll say anything to get elected, just like any other politician, but at least he may get the political opportunity to apply needed fixes, reduce deficit spending, and reinforce the foundations of the American economy. If he has to hold off on his big government spending programs like global warming, so be it.
