I think everybody sensible must regard all the polls as untrustworthy.

I am sure Obama has a edge. But how much? We know what the pollsters are doing. They are overloading the Dems in the polls with the excuse that there will be an extra big turnout of them this year. Gives them an excuse to "bandwagon" the polls to turn voters to Obama.

Considering the extreme volatility of the race

One pollster on TV indicated that, while this was not reflected in his published numbers, he suspected that those answering as "undecided" would likely break 80% for McCain - that in this race undecided really meant unsure about Obama.

Another problem for pollsters is the disappearance of fixed lines phones in many houses. Some people can not be reached and that group is growing each year. They must be unsure how that affects their samples.
