Thanks. That's my understanding as well. But I have no experience of it in my immediate family. Parents both died in nursing homes.

My dad's hospice was at home. I was the designated caregiver. Medicare paid for everything and sent people to help--nurses, counselors, spiritual advisors, hand holders, listeners, body washers, and enough equipment and supplies to start my own nursing home. It's been almost a year and they still check on me to see if I want them to provide me any counseling. Home hospice is a fairly recent option under Medicare. It's comforting for many patients to be able to die in their own homes.
