I just got off the phone with my brother in CO. He has me depressed but what he said makes a lot of sense. Our economy has thrived as a service economy not a manufacturing economy. Most of the consumerism came about on borrowed money via credit cards and second mortgages. A good share of the country has lived well beyond their means and the economy we have was built around that. Well that is over. The over spending has come to a crashing halt and we don't have a huge manufacturing base to work around, we have a huge service economy with gazillions of malls and restaurants and resorts.

This has the chance to be really, really ugly.

I wonder if it's to early in the day to drink?
