Discretionary line items in the budget are... what? 19% or so of the total federal spending?

But discretionary spending is 20% or so of the "pie". If we don't increase revenues and we won't touch the third rail of social security, medicare and other entitlments, we make no progress at all.

I think we should cap Medicare payments. When a person reaches 80, cut em off. People are living too long anyway. this will improve mortality, open up bed space at the retirement homes and cut overall government obligations.

We can change the rule back when I get to be 79. <g>. By then the government will be able to afford my care.
