If Obama's policies fail, then you can gloat and say I told you so.
But you seem to fear more the devil you don't know rather than the devil you do. An increased reliance on NG can only benefit Canada and the US, because the money, although large, stays at home. An increased reliance on clean coal, which I personally favor, would do the same. Regardless of the choice, CO2 will be produced because it is dictated by the laws of combustion. If it is taxed, then we pay. If it is not taxed, we don't pay, but the cost to society is not necessarily less.
I perceive your disapproval to be basically political rather than economic. Right now the wealth of the Treasury, or debt I should say, is being transferred to Wall Street. Apparently that is OK for you because it fits with your politics. The same wealth transferred to J6P, as was done in the days of the 70% tax bracket before Reagan, is not to your liking. My position is solely economic. Every contented J6P is once less J6P who will "key" my new BMW. I hope you realize the significance of this point of view if you too have something you want to keep.
