Webster - the whole issue of clean coal is one of the great misleads of the campaign. Obama is for clean coal. That is his stated policy. What he does not say is what "clean coal" is in his mind. Here is the definition from his web site. Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology. Obama’s Department of Energy will enter into public private partnerships to develop five “first-of-a-kind” commercial scale coal-fired plants with clean carbon capture and sequestration technology. Please note that clean coal for Obama means CO2 capture and sequestration. In the Kentucky primary he said he supported Kentucky coal. Well - yes he is for it while he is completely against it. Why - because the technology does not exist. I will leave the readers to characterize this type of posturing. His positon on nuclear energy is similar.

Nice of you to frame my views as political and yours as economic. Clearly my view indicated that I consider Obama's policies to be bad for the economic well being of the country. Both his energy policy and his desire to transfer much more wealth to the non tax paying segment of society. Your fear of the have nots should be increasing with policies likely to decrease the size of the economy which means there will be more people likely to key your BMW. Democratic policies with regard to energy have been a large factor in the present energy crises. Obama wont move on coal or nuclear generation and will only force more dependence on NG. We can profit from this, but it will be at the expense of the nations well being. NG wont be cheap $7 for long with a windfall profits tax and increased dependence on it for generation. People want good paying jobs, well maybe most people prefer a pay check instead of a handout. Coal and nuclear along with increased E&P create many high paying jobs. Instead we will continue increasing our export of our jobs and money to oil exporting nations.
