Yes, taxes are a drag on the economy. But if I was President and I was faced with increasing taxes or borrowing more money to pay for our deficits, I'd increase taxes in almost every situation. The main exception to that rule of thumb would be the economic situation we face right now, where deficit spending is needed to pull us out of a depression.

This notion of Bush's that it's ok to spend like a drunken sailor and cut taxes at the same time has to be thrown into a coffin, nailed shut, and buried for all time. Bush in his first 6 years in office was incredibly irresponsible with our budget and I'd like to see that corrected.
