The decline of asset prices to their true level, reflecting the actual underlying losses, will occur as quickly as market participants come to recognize them.

You can't stretch this process out over a longer period of time by urging everyone to remain delusional - perhaps to give yourself a better shot of getting out of the door first.

If you don't wish to panic while this revaluation takes place, that is your choice.

But heed the advice I told a friend who has remaining invested, after he previously lost 80% of his life savings by remaining invested as the Tech Bubble collapsed.

"Since your pants are on fire, I think your situation warrants more alarm and panic than you are currently exhibiting."
