Everything else being equal, I'm sure they would. What overwhelms any type of ginned up fear and smear from the (R)'s is the approaching depression with the American vehicle stalled on the tracks and the (R)'s in the driver's seat. The (D)'s don't even have to DO any fearmongering. The stock market does it every day and the 401k statements drive it home.

And there is a week and a half left. Sure, a miracle could occur, but it looks like the Republicans are going to get blown out of the water. The only question is, how bad?

For McCain it can only get worse. He just had one of his advisors announce that he not only was stepping down, he had voted for Obama. His reason? Palin. I suspect we will see more of this.
