Well there is a difference between ability and experience. For example, if you were going to use a lawyer for a criminal case, an experienced lawyer would be one who tried a lot of criminal cases. That does not mean that the experienced lawyer is necessarily the best. He or she may have become jaded after years of trying cases, or maybe they are lazy or maybe they are not very intellectualy bright, but they tried a lot of cases. So, if you are talking about experience I would say a well seasoned politician. As I have repeatedly said I do not consider Palin or Obama to be particularly experienced, but there are advantages that sometimes come with lack of experience. The ability to look a problems in a different way. In politics if you are experienced you have a trac record to defend, this makes it hard to change. Another way to look at is what is the nature of the experience the candidate has. For example both Biden and McCain have years of experience, but what have they done. I think they both have a record of being Washington insiders who play the game and don't think outside the box. So I am not sure that I like their kind of experience. So far as I can see Obama is intelligent and well spoken, but I do not consider him to be experienced. I do not think it has any original ideas, I consider him to be warmed over Jimmy Carter and I think most of his ideas are not particularly good and just another product of the Chicago political machine.
