Yes. There was a bubble. To what extent $147 a barrel was due to real life supply and demand - and what part of it was due to momentum and mania, it's hard to tell. The fact remains that serious guys who run refineries were paying this price.

By the same token much of the decline in oil is probably also a result of getting caught in an "anti-bubble" - a selling mania.

At some point realities of supply and demand will come into play - and we'll see whether or not energies are still in a long term bull market.

On a level which has little to do with the markets I am concerned that we may in fact find ourselves having oil shortages - right after a period of low prices and little investment. That could be big time bad.
