One thing that is different - almost every central bank, financial authority and government is about as scared as by the economic events as by SARS and/or bird flu.

Even OPEC, Saudis, Gulf states, etc. -

So with the exceptions of Russia and North Korea, every player is willing to engage in coordinated action to fix this problem.

I don't know if this will be good or bad. In the longer run, I expect this will be bullish for gold.

Short term, the drop in oil and coal prices may be good for electrical utilities. Dabum on the Boom Bomm Room thread i seeing some accumultion.

Are there some Chinese electricity suppliers that were hurt by high coal prices and are now recovering ?
