Politicians have a vested interest in interjecting themselves into the economy. There is a lot of money and power in doing so, and they will not be willing to give it up. Few of them would probably even agree to consider the thought that they cannot really do anything constructive about the economy; that most of what they can do is only likely to mess things up.

When the only tool you have is a hammer, more problems tend to look like nails.
