I don't see him bucking the senior Democratic leadership at all.

I wouldn't expect that of someone who came up through the party ranks as a community organizer.

I wouldn't expect that of someone who was given the keynote speech in the previous election.

I wouldn't expect that of someone who relied on the Kennedy machine to outduel the previous White House.

I think he has a lot of debts to repay to those who made it possible to put him in this position by mentoring him, by thrusting him into the lime light far sooner than his portfolio would indicate, and by helping him defeat the Clinton machine.

"I feel pretty confident that Obama will not be the same old play and will stand up to his party."

I think what's key here is if he can find enough (R)'s sick of THEIR party's crap to support him. It's looking good - lots o' defections there, the entire party seems fractured.

"I feel pretty confident that Obama will not be the same old play and will stand up to his party."

Franks, Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, and others are busily announcing their plans to introduce new legislation after Bush is gone. They seem very confident they can get what they want passed and signed.

look to california's arnold for a guy who lied his way into office and rolled over to play dead.

having experienced arnold, i have little hope obama will do anything else. in fact, i hear obama use the same kind of empty rhetoric that arnold used...

the lie: "we are going to let the sun shine in on the books and cut expenses."

the truth" spending increased 30+% in 5 years and i didn't hear about any cuts at all and the books have never seen the light of day. in fact, education enrollment is down 6% and the schools claim to be broke with well over a 20% increase in annual cash flow.

these people are politician's - those with a conscience need not apply.
