Well, Bush is a perfect example of how the two party system has been corrupted. Special interests have taken over the parties, and are many times forcing qualified people out and pliable people in.

There are exceptions, but those exceptions have to swim uphill. It is too easy to make the race about the lesser of two evils. I'd rather have a choice of three or four qualified people who don't feel the need to kowtow to a immutable base. Sure, they will HAVE a party base, but with more choice, they have to distinguish their abilities and positions more, instead of being chocolate and vanilla.
