As most of the analysts feel ... It just looks like LEE just wanted to
avoid of being taken over by ATT. He just has a passion to be
the top guy in a company. Having such a dull person to run such
a big company will just choke himself.

M.A.,

An interesting article on the TechInvestor.

"GTE Corp.'s top lawyer said today he's certain the company's $28-billion cash bid to buy MCI Communications Corp. will prevail over WorldCom Inc.'s previous, stock-backed $30-billion offer to merge with MCI."

techweb.com

Also,ÿ As far as the interview is concerned,ÿ I don't think that Chuck Lee is going to admit to something contractually illegal - such as holding previous talks with BT and MCI.ÿ That would play right into Ebbers hand. Also, as far as personality is concerned - don't forget that BT still owns 20% of MCI. MCI cannot be sold to any company without going through BT (as stated in their agreement).ÿ So what personality do you think BT would rather deal with?

Rod

While Lee may be able to say w/o lying that he is not/has not talked to MCI or BT about a merger, did he say that GTE is not talking to them? I have a feeling we're talking semantics here.

Then again, he could just be flat out lying to the press and he is talking to BT/MCI directly about a merger.

I know this much, I have no idea what the hell is going on.
