So what do you think of the redistribution by Bush whereby the government takes from the taxpayer and passes this money onto banks. Now the banks are taking that new found source of cash and paying off higher interest debt and buying other banks.

The goal of this wasnt just to give money to the banks or it could have been proposed in good times as well. The goal was to avoid a financial meltdown that would have impacted all facets of the US economy. If we could have done that by giving money to the bottom 1%, I would have supported that as well.

Or how about the sugar industry in which huge subsidies by the government (taxpayer) is passed along to corporate farms?

I despise pretty much every agricultural subsidy, whether it be in the form of cash or cheap water. It increases prices and destroys 3rd world farmers. Just plain stupidity. Given the power, there is pretty much nothing I would eliminate faster from the budget.
