Well, forgive me for thinking the Republicans are machiavellian Rovians. :) But remember, the budget is what they propose and Congress signs off on and these Reps have been running the deficits up wildly. You think that's merely incompetence? I think it is deliberate to make it difficult for the Dems to fix it. Then that assumes they knew back in 2001 the Dems would win in 2008. Rove is clever but last time I checked, he wasn't clairvoyant. I think the deficits are a factor of greed=tax cuts, 2 wars, prolific spending, and Bush's people not knowing how to manage a budget. I think their Machiavellian tactics are pretty much confined to politics and getting Scooter out of jail. And I know that you and I and the Dems think that this nation is united and that we are one, but the Neocon Republicans literally look on Dems as a scourge. MM, you should know me better than that.......did you forget your days on the FAMD thread? I am under no illusions as to what the GOPers think of me. And frankly, I feel the same way about them......possibly worse. I know. My family is full of these types that look on Dems as heathen, baby killing, gay people. The Dems represent everything the Reps despise. Most of my family are Republicans as well but they are slightly more enlightened than yours. ;-) It is ideological, not rational. So you approach this with your rational brain in use. The remaining McCain/Palin supporters are not using their rational brain, rather, they are using their ideological brain, which allows for no compromise or debate. I know. They are partisan ideologues......the worst kind of ideologue. They are a real problem. I don't believe in genocide but if I did.......... I don't think I've missed the mark one bit. If you think I'm off base, you need to spend more time on the McCain thread. I've not posted here alot in the last few months, because I do most of my posting on the McCain thread now and I'm telling you, most of those folks are really scary in their close-mindedness. They are full-throated in their support of all the smears. They think all the smears are engraved facts. It's really amazing. The only thing I disagree with you is that they planned the last 8 years of misery in order to put the Dems in a bad place in 2008. I just don't think they are that clever. ;-)
