>>Any chance the reports that it might just be a pipeline to nowhere aren't true?<<

Here's the question you need to be ask... Why are a bunch of supposedly "free market" Republican politicians getting involved in helping to finance a natural gas pipeline?

1) Back in 2004, the Republican Congress passed an $18 billion loan guarantee for the pipeline, which was signed by President Bush.

2) Republican Governor Frank Murkowski tried to get the State of Alaska to make a multi-billion dollar investment in the pipeline.

3) Republican Governor Sarah Palin proposed a $500 million state subsidy for the pipeline.

Normally when an energy company wants to develop a resource, they just apply for permits and build the infrastructure themselves. So why the orgy of Republican socialism?

Answer: Because the current economics probably don't support the project, no matter who builds it!!!
