=== I am a senior on Social Security and Medicare. I trust Rangel and others like him to protect those benefits. ===

Social Security and Medicare are basically neutral issues. Both parties have large, senior citizen bases of support. Neither party wants to alienate it's senior citizen support base.

But...... under Obama, Medicare will be worse for everyone. If Obama's places EVERYONE on Medicare, like he has promised, then senior citizens will have to go to the end of the line for health care, and the young and unemployed will go to the beginning of the line.

Plus, seniors, and everyone else, will have to wait much longer to get health care. Just look at any other single-payer, government run health care system. People are constantly complaining that it takes a long time to get care.

Why will Medicare be worse, beside having to wait forever?

Well..... at first the quality of care won't be too much worse than it already is. As doctors and hospitals get squeezed by reduced government spending on health care, it drives doctors, especially the good doctors, and new doctors, out of the health care business. Instead of becoming doctors, the young will become lawyers and other professions, and there will be a shortage of, not only good doctors, but any doctors.

Don't believe me? Just look at what is happening to the health care in other countries, with single payer, government run health care systems, after a few years in existence.

A vote for Obama is a vote towards making our miserable health care system even worse for the average citizen, especially for the elderly, who require more care than the young.

So.... be careful what you ask for, you might get it!
