How about Nikon overforcasting but not that overall demand is slowing? The article says that Nikon's requirements were pushed out but were quickly filled by other vendors - seems to me it's a Nikon problem - not an industry problem.

The story I infer from Akins' and others remarks, best as can be told, is that Nikon had overprojected its ability to get fused silica, i.e. overestimated its ability to deliver steppers. I have always credited Akins' account of the Nikon business, but even if the problem were demand-driven -- that is, if a customer had pushed back a Nikon order and it had rattled down the chute to Cymer -- it's very temporary and will correct itself in a quarter. Not much help for short termers, but even for them, it's nice to know you can hold the stock a few months and make money, if need be.
