That takes us down an odd logical road; if the moderates embrace demonization but still elect Obama, either they don't care that he is a dangerous lefty hidden radical jihadist, or they prefer that to McCain because they are stupid, or they think McCain is something worse. Seems more likely to me that they listened to the demonization chant, looked at the two candidates on their own, weighed their own priorities, and opted to go for Obama (if the average polls are to be believed right now). But you will only get a better answer once Tuesday's exit polling is released in detail.
