Well, I never thought he was a "compassionate conservative" or believed any of the other crap he laid down, like Jesus being his favorite "philosopher". But, my peeps in Texas had told me he wasn't a bad Governor. So, I thought he'd be just a mediocre, ordinary (R) president. I didn't vote for the guy, but I didn't fear him in 2000. I thought the country had made a big mistake rejecting Gore after the success of the Clinton years. Where would we be NOW, if that hadn't occurred?
