John,

at my age there is no muscle. it's boobs. plus easier to measure my waist by pant size.. i know which way i am heading.g

Maintaining muscle is very important, especially at older age. It gets more difficult, because the body produces less testosterone, but still, some strength training is important, even just once per week, or once every 2 weeks.

It is good for accident and injury avoidance, but there is another health reason. It is a reservoir for the immune system to tap into when body is fighting some challenges, such as bacteria or viruses.

Glutathione is the key here. It gets stored in muscles and is tapped by immune system at the time of need.

At minimum, some squats and push-ups are a good idea to do every once in a while, and if you can, pull-ups.

hit new low today 204. goal 199. then we see where we go from there... waist from 44 to now 38.

Congrats. That's a fantastic reduction in waist size. I bet some activities are a little easier now than before...

Joe

Many think the waist measurement is a better way to determine health than BMI. For men the best is 36" or lower, with 40" and above a danger zone.
