I agree with Dick Morris that Mac would have done better if he had opposed the bailout.

Suppose he had opposed the bailout loudly, and supported another plan described as "for main st, not wall st"? Would Obama have been forced to denounce him as irresponsible, and thus support the bailout himself? Politically, it would have been better. I think the impression was created that Mac was just winging it, which undercut his arguments on experience and steadiness.
