so in other words you asked for names of car companies that came into being after 1958, I named a ton of them including some that didn't even come into being until the 80s... but those aren't valid samples according to you, the only valid sample is DeLorean.

California and other western states are going to a cap and trade carbon system and are going to discourage fossil fuels. Some people that live there (not all) are going to want an electric vehicle. These are not the 17K gasoline burning honda buyers that you think are the only people who buy cars in the USA.

As far as government subsidies, the US taxpayer just paid 2 trillion dollar for a useless war for oil. That stupid 17K honda actually costs double that, only people like me are forced to pay for it even though I would rather go electric. I propose a huge tax on gasoline to pay for all these wars so only the people that use gasoline end up paying for the wars, hows that for a subsidy?

The government massively subsidizes that Honda Civic. Massive energy credits to the oil firms, special breaks for oil discovery, a huge military budget to guard Middle East supplies etc. Right out of our pockets.

Not to mention the "soft" costs. All that money we spend gassing up that Civic goes right into the coffers of Irans nuke program, Saudi religious nuts, South American dictators.

9/11 - paid for by that Honda Civic.

Add it all up and that Honda Civic gets very expensive. And a threat to national security.

The whole car-oil complex is courtesy of massive tax subsidies. There's nothing more tax-payer funded and socialistic than driving an SUV down a highway.
