John, WWII blew the japanese economy to bits and in the 60s they weren't making anything but cheap toys. There was no big money behind those companies. They were small operations just like startup companies today.

And as for big money, theres plenty of it here- google has a 100 billion mkt cap and GM has a 3 billion mkt cap.
