Marriage or, as I much prefer, a civil union is a legal state available to every adult. Not really. Incest, polygamy, group marriage is forbidden as well. Are you saying that someone who is gay or lesbian is required to 'marry' someone they cannot have sex with in order to enjoy the benefits of marriage or they cannot 'marry' someone they can have sex with and always have sex outside of marriage? Does that sound right to you? First, most gay people can have sex with members of the opposite sex. Second, as I believe you've said, marriage is a legal contract and isn't all about sex. Why is that such an issue with you people? Since there have been same sex marriages in other parts of the world and even in San Francisco, has your marriage or any heterosexual marriage been damaged? How? Not at all. But I listed four examples of people who've been harmed. A group of Christian doctors in CA, a Christian photographer in NM, a church in NJ, and all future orphans in MA, who will have lower chances of adoption now that a Catholic charity has been forced out of the adoption arrangement business. I figure there will be many more harmed by gay marriage. One of the reasons I think that is because you and other liberals have publicly said doctors and business people who don't want to take part in things associated with gay marriage, abortion, sex changes, etc should be forced out of business. When you and/or some of your fellows admit you want doctors like Ron Paul and Bill Frist to be forbidden to deliver babies because their religion keeps them from doing abortions, etc. its obvious there's a real religious freedom issue here. I have no problem not inviting gay activists into schools along with not inviting the ROTC, the scouts, any religious observances including Xmas (call me the Grinch) and anything that has an opinionated bent to it including ID. Doesn't surprise me you'd equate these things with gay activists. I don't believe you though. I think you want to ban ROTC, scouts, Christmas, etc and still let in gay activists - you'll just claim they're not activists. Frankly, I think schools spend way too much time on junk and too little time on reading and writing and arithmetic. Agreed on something. Sarah Palin went to 6 years of college and look how she turned out. And Obama went to Harvard Law and never became more than a "junior lawyer" during his entire legal career, according to his campaign anyway. No one is going to turn a child gay or lesbian I think human sexuality is more malleable than you believe. although the stupid and foolish can be turned into Democrats if they're amoral enough. The Proposition 8 people were hysterical nincompoops trying to harm people they don't know and will never meet. Sort of like the MA orphans who are less likely to find parents now. The Mormon Marriott Hotel chain is one of the largest purchasers of pornographic movies. Nice company you guys keep. I have no idea if Marriott is Mormon some way or other. Or whether it offers porno movies in its rooms. I'm glad to see you think porno is bad. I wonder why you think so? "The same sex marriage issue has nothing to do with gay sex, which is legal everywhere in the US" That is absurd. No, its true. Most of what you people do resolves around sex, money, power and violence. Nice religion you have going there. Gratuitous insults of no argumentive value. Besides I think you're thinking of Hollywood. There you go again being hyperbolic and hysterical. Doctors and other business people who discriminate in this way harm people. Ron Paul and Bill Frist harm no one in not performing abortions. The doctor who wouldn't do the fertilization referred the patient to another doctor who did the procedure. There is no harm you can point to coming from Christian doctors. Don't ignore the Swedes who are refused service for being Swedish. Why should remember a mythical example like that? Having a durable power of attorney tattooed onto your belly is a big deal. Are you going to carry one around in a zippy bag attached to your ankle? You are approaching silliness. Powers of attorney must not be much of a problem as many people rely on them. That's right. Your anecdotal evidence trumps hospital policy. If I've visted non-relatives in the hospital, it is in fact proof your charge that only spouses and close blood relatives are allowed to visit hospital patients is nonsense. The right wing nuts who went hog wild over Proposition 8 and who regularly spend all of their time thinking about other people having sex are the ones who are obsessed. Obviously, other people having sex offends you and your ilk. You need to get that checked out as it appears to be an addiction with the christian right. The gay marriage issue isn't a sex issue. Gay sex is legal everywhere in the US and there is no organized movement to change that. I think you're projecting. "Why aren't you folks pushing for civil unions? " Gee, what have I been talking about? You've been talking about gay marriage. Not civil unions, domestic partnerships, or whatever ... which are similar to but not marriages. Different law involved.
