Saying that it's the government's job to take care of our elders is just asking for trouble.

I don't understand what this means...the government is you and me. It is the government's responsibility to legislate and administer a national plan. The degree to which it is actually run by the government or private sector is a matter of efficiency and cost effectiveness.

And it is paid for by everyone, like today everyone pays payroll taxes to support these programs...the rich in progressive degrees, like our taxation system is today. If you want to talk about affordability, first address the incredible sums of money we spend today on so called defense.

That's what I'm trying to express. Real limited government. Nothing wrong with safety net programs as long as the limits are clear. Same thing with the war on terrorism. The limits ought to be clear.

I don't disagree with this, but sooner or later you have to get to specifics.
