Jeroen,

I just figured out that I'd misunderstood "family." Leo didn't necessarily come from Belgium himself. All US people came from somewhere else, and some of us are more attached to their ancestry than others.

You'll probably enjoy working in the US. Come on down!

Linda

There are only two issues from the conference call I want to
comment:

1)"turnarounds last for 6-8 months"

I think this is the most revealing and most important comment.
It shows the timeframe Yocam has in mind for continued
profitability. Assuming that the turnaround quarter was June
1997, this means that we should gain most by holding BORL script
up until June 1999.

2)The European holidays issue.

This seems to be a throwaway line. Most Americans also take
holidays in this part of the year so the ratio would not be
changed. In addition the peoples of the Asia Pacific and Southern
Hemisphere do not take holidays at this time of year.Yocam needs
to explain the falling percent of European sales better. No doubt
he has more insight into it but chose to make a throwaway comment
to deemphasise the issue.

Anyway, aren't you glad to be holding BORL? WE have about 8 quarters of better performance ahead of us! Go BORL!

Jeroen: Today my broker was telling me about a Belgian company
that was being highly touted as having a superior speech recog-
nition software. Also, Bill Gates (Microsoft) had purchased 10% of the company. The company is Lernout and Hauspie Speech; it is
listed on Nasdaq with a symbol of LHSPH. My broker was very
interested in the company. I thought I would ask you about it. If
you know the company or have any "good" information on it, please
Let me hear from you.
Many thanks,
Jack Gibson

PS: THREAD: Please excuse this off topic interruption, but if any
of you are familiar with this company, let me hear from you.
Thanks
