detroit's answer to the Prius is.....................?

When I bought my last car a few years ago I was considering a Prius and at that time YOU COULD NOT GET THEM in California. Huge waiting lists, despite the fact that Pruises were readily available elsewhere in the country. How "convenient". Detroit and its apologizers have utilized every corrupt means possible to force the public to buy their gas guzzing Escalades.

The decision by domestic car buyers to buy foreign made cars, as you did, is the cause of the problem.

In this case I am a firm believer in economic darwinism. If Detroit is too dumb to make fuel efficient cars they fully deserve to lose the business.

Right. The CUSTOMERS and the LABORERS are the problems for the management of car companies.

This kind of sclerotic and arrogant thinking makes me want to write to my representatives and tell them to LET THEM FAIL.
