Skeets, the other problem with cutting "waste" is that what is pork to the rest of America looks pretty good to the states or districts getting money. And no Congressman gets elected if he doesn't secure some money for his district. Most of the stuff is not really waste, it is just not visibly valuable to those who don't understand it. Where this is very evident is when the money goes to pure science research. Since it is hard to connect that research to an immediate payoff, it looks like waste. But we would die on the vine without some of it. For every "bridge to nowhere", there are many pure science projects that are considered waste, when they probably are of some and possibly great value.
