geothermal, solar and wind. These snap on to the EXISTING grid that is the smartgrid.

I do this for a living so if you are trying to be tricky you will lose this one. We are looking for the alt e's to take maybe 20% of the fuel burden in the near term. Should be doable. SO we are not for unplugging the coal, but no new coal plants and besides, solar is cheaper than coal if you have to build a new plant. All the calculations about .10 per watt for coal do not involve amortizing a new plant. Solar is snap on to the grid. CA already doesn't allow any coal plants.
