So you think workers shouldn't be allowed to organize?

I think workers have to have some protections. But there should be restrictions which prevent the unions from being able to extort money and destroy industries as the UAW has. Employers need protections, as well I'm not sure how you get to fairness, but the threat of strikes can be awfully powerful and probably should be limited in some way.

When you start railing against executive compensation maybe I'll take you more seriously.

I think some executive compensation has gotten out of control, and probably some significant limits should be imposed on the tax deductibility of executive compensation. But it is important to remember that executives do not have the power to strongarm corporations into paying what they pay. There is a properly functioning market dictating it; I just think some of these companies are so big they have become somewhat irresponsible and are not properly evaluating compensation in terms of return on investment. Some negative tax incentives could probably go a long way toward solving the problem.

It is obvious that labor is at the heart of the current problem. You can't fire people at will. You can't replace people with technology at will. You can't order labor to do what needs to be done. If you want one of these unskilled workers to reach more than 18" you have to pay him more money for the wear and tear on his elbow. It is just stupid. And it has brought the American car companies down.
